MATERIALS:

Worsted weight yarn, (Bernat Super Saver)

  (700 - 1400 yards)

5.5 mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

Worked as 2 granny squares

1.  Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.

 

2.  Chain 2, (takes the place of the 1st dc), make 2 double 

     crochet in the ring,

*chain 3, 3 double crochet, repeat from * 2 more times,

chain 3, slip stitch to join in the top of the chain 2.

 

3.  Turn the work, slip stitch into the next chain 3 space,

chain 2 (takes the place of the 1st dc), 2 dc in the same 

space, chain 3, 3 more dc in the same space. (Corner 

cluster.)

*Chain 3, in the next chain 3 corner space make: 

3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc,

repeat from * 2 more times,

chain 3, slip stitch to join in the top of the chain 2.

 

4.  Turn the work, slip stitch into the next chain 3 space,

chain 2, 2 double crochet in the same space,

*chain 3, in the next corner space make: 

3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, (corner cluster);

chain 3, 3 double crochet in the next chain 3 space,

repeat from * around ending with chain 3, slip stitch to 

join in the top of the chain 2.

 

5.  For each remaining row:

Turn, slip stitch into the chain 3 space,

work 3 double crochet stitches in each of the chain 3 

spaces,

chain 3 to separate each 3 dc cluster,

work a corner cluster in the chain 3 space of each 

corner cluster.

 

Work a large enough granny square for your body. 

(No specific amount, as some may prefer a

small poncho, some a large poncho or cape, so any 

amount will suffice.)

 

Fold down a corner for the front and the back.

Sew the side seams.
