1. WORKED FLAT, BOTTOM UP.
(RED color yarn) Cast on:
5-12 YRS: 60 stitches ;
12-16 YRS: 66 stitches;
ADULT: 70 stitches
2. Work stockinette stitch for 4 rows. (k1row, p1row). (Bottom will
curl slightly automatically).
3. Change to gray yarn, work stockinette stitch for 4 rows.
(k1row, p1row).
4. Change to blue yarn, work garter stitch for 4 rows. (k every row).
5. Change to gray yarn, work stockinette stitch for 4 rows.
6. Change to cream yarn, work garter stitch for 4 rows.
7. Change to gray yarn, work stockinette stitch for 4 rows.
8. Change to red yarn, work garter stitch for 4 rows.
9. Change to gray yarn, work stockinette stitch for 4 rows.
10. Change to blue yarn, work garter stitch for 4 rows.
11. Change to gray yarn, work stockinette stitch for 6 rows.
12. Knit 2 stitches together across the row.
13. Purl across the row casting off each stitch after it is worked, leave
a long yarn end.
Thread it into a needle, weave through the last row of stitches,
pull to gather and close the top of the
hat, sew the back seam. Weave yarn ends into the finished work.
