MATERIALS:

Worsted weight yarn, worked 2 strands or Bernat Softee Chunky, worked 1 strand (Adult: 204 yds ww; or 102 yds chunky yarn)

8 mm knitting needles

INSTRUCTIONS:

COWL: Worked flat. (Multiples of 3 +1)

Gauge: 2.5 stitches + 3 rows = 1 sq. inch

1.  Cast on: 5-12 yrs: 55   12-16 yrs: 58    Adult: 61 stitches

2.  Work in ribbing (k1p1) for 2 rows.

3.  Knit the next row.

4.  Purl the next row.

5.  Purl the first stitch, *slip 2 stitches, purl the next stitch, repeat  

     from * across the row.

6.  Purl the first stitch, *knit the next 2 stitches, purl the next stitch, 

     repeat from * across.

7.  Repeat rows 3, 4, 5, and 6 for:

5-12 yrs: 4 times

12-16 yrs: 5 times

Adult: 6 times.

8.  Work in ribbing (k1p1) for 2 rows, cast off.

  Fold in half, sew to form a tube.

Weave yarn ends into the finished work.
