MATERIALS:

 

RED HEART STELLAR YARN

9mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.  Collar Section (Worked sideways)

 Chain 16, (or less for a shorter turtle neck)

2.  Double crochet in the 3rd stitch from the hook, and in each       stitch of the chain.

3.  Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each

     stitch across   the  row.

4.  Repeat step 3 until a rectangle similar to a scarf is formed, 

     fold in half, sew or slip  

stitch the 2 ends together to form a tube.


5.  Begin working the bottom section:




     Slip stitch into the side of the next double crochet.

     Chain 3, double crochet in the same stitch

 (V stitch formed)

     *In the side of the next dc make 2 V stitches (dc, ch1,

dc two times).

     In the side of the next dc make a V stitch.

     Repeat from * across the row.

     At the end of the row, slip stitch into the 2nd stitch of

the chain 3.

 

6.  Slip stitch into the next chain 1 space. Make a V stitch in every chain 1 space across

the row, at the end of the row slip stitch into the 2nd stitch of the chain 3.  Fasten off,

weave yarn ends into the finished work.

MATERIALS:

Worsted weight yarn, worked 2 strands (or any weight of your choice)

7 mm or 8 mm knitting needles (or any size needles for your yarn choice)

Yarn needle

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

My main focus with designing is to produce a pattern that requires the least amount of instructions, for ease of construction.You can find ALL my patterns on Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/designers/emi-harrington  Including over 500 FREE patterns.

 

1.  Black yarn:

Cast on 14 stitches (or any number of your choice).

2.  Knit every row for any number of rows. (I worked 8 rows)

3.  Change to any color yarn.  Knit every row for any number. 

    (I worked 22 rows)

4.  Change to black, knit 8 rows, change to any color, knit 22 rows.

5.  Repeat step 4 until the strip is as long as desired, 

      ending with 8 rows of black.

 


 

6.  Now work the vertical black band.  

Cast on 8 stitches, knit every row until the

work is as long as the previous one.


 





CONTINUE TO MAKE COLOR STRIPS AND BLACK STRIPS.  

I BEGAN AND ENDED WITH A BLACK STRIP FOR THE SIDES.


Work as many strips as desired.

1.  Foot section, worked back to front. Gauge 2.25 stitches = 1 inch

Cast on: (with 7 mm needles and 2 strands of ww yarn.

Adult S-M:  8 - 9 inch circumference 

(measured around the foot). 18 stitches

M-L:  9 - 10 inch circumference (measured around the foot) 20   

stitches

L-XL: 10 - 11 inch circumference 

(measured around the foot) 22-24 stitches

 


 

2.  Work in stockinette stitch (k 1 row, p 1 row)

until the length of the foot is obtained (in inches):

    SHOE SIZE 6:     9.25 "

SHOE SIZE 6.5:  9.5”

SHOE SIZE 7:    9.75 “

SHOE SIZE 8:    10”

SHOE SIZE 10:   10.75”

SHOE SIZE 11:   11”

SHOE SIZE 12:   11.5”

SHOE SIZE 13:   11.75”

SHOE SIZE 14:   12”

SHOE SIZE 14.5:  12.25”

SHOE SIZE 15:    12.5”

  

3.  Knit 2 stitches together across the row.

4.   Cut the yarn end approx. 18 inches long, 

      thread the yarn end into a yarn needle, 

     slip the stitches from the knitting needle onto

     the yarn needle needle, 

pull to gather and close the end, 

fold the work in half, and sew across the top 

of the foot, approx. 1/2 the total distance.

Then sew the heel end closed.

 



 


LEG SECTION: Worked bottom up.  CAST ON:

Adult S: 26 stitches

Adult M: 28 stitches

Adult L: 32 stitches

Adult XL: 36 stitches

 

Work in ribbing (k2p2) for as many rows as desired.

(IN THIS SAMPLE: 2 rows black, 20 rows blue, 2 rows black).

Cast off, leave approx. 18 inch long yarn end, thread into a needle,

sew into a tube.

1. WORKED  SIDEWAYS.

MAKE 2 FRONT AND 2 BACK.

(Back worked as 2 pieces and sewn together in center back.)




 

Working with 10 mm knitting needles, and either:

1 strand of Bernat Softee Chunky yarn,

Or

2 strands of any worsted weight yarn,

Or

4 strands of double knitting yarn

 

FRONT: Make 2. CAST ON:

Cream color yarn:

Short: (5 feet to 5 feet 4 inches tall) Cast on 50 stitches

Tall: (5’6” to 6 feet tall) Cast on 54 stitches

 

2.  Knit every row for 4 rows.

3.  *Knit the first 4 stitches, work in ribbing (k1p1) across the

row, knit the last 4 stitches. Repeat from * for 1 more row.

4.  Knit the first 4 stitches, work in ribbing (p1k1) across the

row, knit the last 4 stitches.

5.  Gray yarn: knit every row for 2 rows. (Garter stitch)  

 

 

 





6. 
 Cream yarn: repeat step 3 & 4. (Or repeat step 3 for 4 rows.)

7.  Gray yarn: knit every row for 4 rows.

8.  Cream yarn: repeat step 3 & 4. (Or repeat step 3 for 4 rows.)

9.  Gray yarn: garter stitch for 2 rows.

10. Cream yarn: garter stitch for:

SMALL: Chest 30 - 34 inches: 10 rows

Medium: Chest 36 - 40 inches: 12 rows

Large: Chest 40 - 48 inches: 14 rows

XL: Chest 48 - 52 inches: 16 rows

XXL: Chest 52 - 58 inches: 18 row

3XL: Chest 58 - 62 inches: 20 rows

4XL: Chest 62 - 66 inches: 22 rows

5XL: Chest 66 - 70 inches: 24 rows

 

Cast off.

 

BACK: Make 2.  

(If you are experienced at knitting, the back can be worked as all one piece.)


Repeat instructions for front, EXCEPTadd 4 additional rows of garter stitch.

 

Sew together in the center back.  

Sew the front sections to the back sections at the shoulders, leaving 8 rows in the center free as the center back.
