BLOCKING: Basically there are 2 ways of blocking.
1.  Steam blocking: arrange item on a flat surface, hold steam iron above the surface, (not touching the surface), and
    steam. Allow the item to dry in the shape desired.
2.  Immerse in water, and squeeze water out, or spray with water. Arrange item on a thick bath towel, shape as desired, allow to dry 
     undisturbed.

MATERIALS:
Bernat Blanket Yarn, https://tinyurl.com/yccvr3ag 
…OR…. 2 strands of worsted weight yarn
6 mm  straight knitting needles (worked flat)
Yarn needle
Black yarn for eyes, or beads





INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Body: Cast on 20 stitches. (5-6 inch wide bear, cast on more for a larger bear.)
2.  Work in stockinette stitch (k one row, p one row) for 22 rows (or more).
3.  Cast off.

4.  Ears: 
 Loosely cast on 3 stitches, knit 2 stitches in each stitch (increased to
purl across the next row,
then knit 2 stitches together across the next row, casting                    off  each stitch after it is worked.




Fold the square in half, and sew the side seam and the bottom (a large darning needle and the same yarn were used in this sample), then sew an indentation in the center to form legs.
 


















Stuff the body.
Tip:  To avoid stuffing from showing, place it into a knee-high or panty-hose leg before placing  inside the body. 
Sew the top of the body closed.





Sew the ears on the top corners.
Tie yarn around to form a neck.  (Tie into a permanent knot, then tie into a bow.)



 



 


  
Sew beads on for eyes and nose,
or embroider with black yarn for young children.
