Crochet this quick and easy 2 hour, top down, summer shrug.  All sizes from adult small to Plus size!

1.    6-8 yrs: chain 20
8-12 yrs: chain 27
      12-16 yrs: chain 35
Adult small: chain 43
Adult medium: chain 47
Adult Large: chain 53
Adult XL: chain 57
Adult XXL: chain 59
Adult XXX: chain 61

2.  Single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook, and each stitch of the chain.
    (6-8 yrs: 19; 8-12: 28; 12-16: 34; S: 42; M: 46; L; 52; XL: 56; XXL: 58; XXX 60)

3.  Chain 3 and turn, (takes the place of one dc and one chain 1 space), *double crochet
in the next stitch, chain 1; repeat from * across the row.
(6-8 yrs: 19 dc, 19 ch 1; 8-12: 28 dc; + 28ch 1;  12-16: 34 dc +34 ch 1; S: 42 dc +42 ch 1;
M: 46 dc + 46 ch 1;  L: 52 dc + 52 ch 1; XL: 56 dc + 56 ch 1;  XX: 58 dc + 58 ch 1;
XXX: 60 dc + 60 ch 1)

4. Chain 3 and turn, *double crochet in the next chain 1 space, chain 1, double crochet
   in the next double crochet, chain 1,  repeat from * across the row. Always end the row with
   a double crochet in the 2nd stitch of the chain 3. (6-8 yrs: 38 dc, 38 ch 1; 8-12: 56 dc + 56 ch
   1; 12-16: 68 dc + 68 ch 1; S: 84 dc + 84 ch 1; M: 92 dc + 92 ch 1; L: 104 dc + 104 ch 1;
   XL: 112 dc + 112 ch 1; XXL: 116 dc + 116 ch 1; XXX: 120 dc + 120 ch 1)



5. Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each chain 1 space and in each double crochet across
   the row. (6-8: 76 stitches; 8-12: 112; 12-16: 136; S: 168; M: 184; L: 208; XL: 224;
   XXL: 232; XXX: 240)

6.    6-8 YRS: Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch across the row. (76)
8-12 YRS: Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch across the row for 3 rows.
12 - 16 YRS: Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch across the row for 4 rows.
Adult Small: Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch across the row for 5 rows
Adult Medium: Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch across the row for 7 rows
Adult Large: Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch across the row for 9 rows
Adult XL: Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch across the row for 10 rows
Adult XXL: Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch across the row for 11 rows
Adult XXXL: Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch across the row for 12 rows


7. ARMHOLE ROW:
   
   6-8 YEARS: (76 stitches)
   Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the next 9 stitches,   
   skip the next 18 stitches,
   double crochet in the next 20 stitches,
   skip the next 18 stitches,
   double crochet in the remaining 10 stitches.

   8-12 YEARS: (112 stitches)
   Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the next 13 stitches,
   skip the next 28 stitches,
   double crochet in the next 28 stitches,
   skip the next 28 stitches,
   double crochet in the remaining 14 stitches.


   12-16 YEARS: (136 stitches)
   Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the next 16 stitches,
   skip the next 34 stitches,
   double crochet in the next 34 stitches,
   skip the next 34 stitches,
   double crochet in the remaining 17 stitches.


  Adult Small: (168 stitches)
  Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the next 20 stitches,
  skip the next 42 stitches,
  double crochet in the next 42 stitches,
  skip the next 42 stitches,
  double crochet in the remaining 21 stitches.


 Adult Medium: (184 stitches)
  Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the next 22 stitches,
  skip the next 46 stitches,
  double crochet in the next 46 stitches,
  skip the next 46 stitches,

  double crochet in the remaining 23 stitches.


  Adult Large: (208 stitches);
  Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the next 25 stitches,
  skip the next 52 stitches,
  double crochet in the next 52 stitches,
  skip the next 52 stitches,
  double crochet in the remaining 26 stitches.


  Adult XL: (224 stitches)
  Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the next 27 stitches,
  skip the next 56 stitches,
  double crochet in the next 56 stitches,
  skip the next 56 stitches,
  double crochet in the remaining 28 stitches.


  ADULT XXL: (232 stitches)
  Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the next 28 stitches,
  skip the next 58 stitches,
  double crochet in the next 58 stitches,
  skip the next 58 stitches,
  double crochet in the remaining 29 stitches.


  ADULT XXXL: 240 stitches.
  Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the next 29 stitches,
  skip the next 60 stitches,
  double crochet in the next 60 stitches,
  skip the next 60 stitches,
  double crochet in the remaining 30 stitches.

8. *Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch across the row.  Repeat from * to
   make as many rows as you wish for the length of the shrug.



9.  Shell edge.
Chain 1, turn.  Working across the bottom of the shrug, single crochet in the same stitch,
*skip the next stitch, 4 double crochet in the next stitch, skip the next stitch, single crochet
in the next stitch.
Repeat from * across the bottom.  Then work up the front,around the neck, and down the opposite front. 
 (Evenly space the shells up the front sections, so that the work lies flat.)   At the end of the round,  slip 
stitch to join in the first single crochet, fasten off.
Weave yarn ends into the finished work.
Sew a button on the front, or tie with a ribbon.
