MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn
6.5 mm crochet, plus a larger hook for working the strap.
Yarn needle

INSTRUCTIONS:  Video demo here:

1.  Working with 2 strands of worsted weight yarn, and a 6.5 mm crochet hook:
work as many chain stitches as you would like for the width of your bag.
2.  Single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook, and each stitch of the chain.
    Working down the opposite side of the chain, single crochet in each stitch around, slip
stitch to join in the first single crochet.
3.  Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join.
4.  Repeat step 3 until the bag is as large as desired.  Fasten off.

5.  STRAP:  Work with 6 strands of worsted weight yarn, and a larger hook.
Work a chain that is as long as you desire for the strap.
Separate the 6 strands into 2 sections of 3, pull one section through a stitch at the top of
the bag on the side, and tie the 6 strands into a square knot.  Trim the ends evenly to
form tassels.  If desired add additional strand through the knot to form a thicker tassel.

FLOWER: Chain 30, double crochet in the 3rd stitch from the hook ,* 2 double crochet in the next stitch, double crochet in the next stitch, repeat from * across the row.
Fasten off with a long yarn end, thread it into a yarn needle,, shape into a circle, and sew all the rows together on the back.  If desired, sew a button or bead in the center.

Chain a cord that is approx. 10 inches longer than the purse is wide; weave through a row of stitches on the bag, tie into a knot, and trim the ends evenly to form tassels. (Flower is positioned above the knot in this sample.)
