MATERIALS;
Worsted weight yarn, worked 2 strands
9 mm crochet hook, (US M or N)
Yarn needle

INSTRUCTIONS: 
 Gauge 2 stitches = 1 inch, works top down.

     Work with a 9 mm crochet hook, and 2 strands of    
     worsted weight yarn.
    Newborn - 3 months: chain 12
    3 - 6 months: chain 14
    6 - 12 months: chain 16
    OTHER SIZES BELOW




 2. Double crochet in the2nd stitch from the hook, and each
stitch of the chain. Then work down the opposite side of
the chain, double crochet in each stitch of the chain, slip
stitch to join. (Top of hat formed.) (24, 28, 32)

3. *Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch around, slip 
    stitch to join.   
Repeat from * for: (Optional: for the last row, work alternate 
                                 front  post and back post across the row to 
                                 form a bottom band.)
  Newborn - 3 months: 2 more rows, fasten off. Weave yarn ends 
 into the finished work. (An additional row of single crochet 
        can be  added if the hat does not measure 4.5 inches long.)
3 - 6 months: 3 more rows, fasten off. Weave yarn ends into the 
finished work.
6 - 12 months: 4 more rows, fasten off. Weave yarn ends into the 
finished work.

POM POM:
 Video demo here:

1.  Wind around a piece of cardboard 4 inches     
      long.
2.  Wind the yarn around approximately 30 to 40 
     times,   depending on how large you would 
     like the pom pom.
3.  Slide the bundle off.
4.  Tie in the center with yarn. (Use two or three 
      strands  for strength.)
5.  Cut the loops open on both sides.
6.  Trim evenly, and use the yarn that was  used 
     to tie into a bundle to tie the pom-pom to the hat.

1 - 3 yrs: chain 18 (yardage 65 yds)
3 - 5 yrs: chain 19 (yardage: 80 yds)
5 - 12 yrs: chain 20 (yardage 100 yds)
Adult: chain 24 (yardage: 140 yds)


2. Double crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook, and each
stitch of the chain. Then work down the opposite side of
the chain, single crochet in each stitch of the chain, slip stitch to 
join. (Top of hat formed.) (24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 48)

3. *Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch around, slip 
    stitch to join.   
Repeat from * for:

.1 - 3 yrs: 6 more rows, fasten off. Weave yarn ends into the 
finished work.
3 - 5 yrs: 7 more rows, fasten off. Weave yarn ends into the 
finished work.
5 - 12 yrs: 8 more rows, fasten off. Weave yarn ends into the 
finished work.

Adult: 9 more rows  Fasten off. Weave yarn ends into the finished 
work.
