MATERIALS;
Worsted weight yarn, worked 2 strands
9 mm crochet hook, (US M or N)
Yarn needle
INSTRUCTIONS: Gauge 2 stitches = 1 inch, works top down.

1. Work with a 9 mm crochet hook, and 2 strands of
worsted weight yarn.
All sizes: chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.
2. Carry the yarn end along the outside of the ring so it can
be pulled to close the hole.
Chain 2, make 8 double crochet in the ring, slip stitch to
join.
3. Chain 2 and turn, working in the back side of the stitch
only, make 2 double crochet in each stitch around, slip
stitch to join. (16)
4. Newborn - 3 months: chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch, making 2 dc in every 2nd stitch, at the end of
the row, slip stitch to join. (24)
3 - 6 months: chain 2 and turn, *2 double crochet in the next 3 stitches, double crochet in the next stitch, repeat
from * around, slip stitch to join. (28 stitches) Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch around,
slip stitch to join. (28)
6 - 12 months: chain 2 and turn, make 2 double crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. (32)
*Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join.
Repeat from * for one more row. (32)
5. Chain 2, alternate front post and back post double crochet around, slip stitch to join.

Fasten off, weave yarn ends into the finished work.
POM POM:
1. Wind around a piece of cardboard 4 inches long.
2. Wind the yarn around approximately 30 to 40 times, depending on
how large you would like the pom pom.
3. Slide the bundle off.
4. Tie in the center with yarn. (Use two or three strands for strength.)
5. Cut the loops open on both sides.
6. Trim evenly, and use the yarn that was used to tie into a
bundle to tie the pom-pom to the hat.
