YARN REQUIREMENT: BOTTOM UP: Chunky yarn:
Cream color: cast on row plus 2 rows (3-10 yds)
Red: 2 rows: ( 2 - 5 yds)
Cream: 6 rows: (15 - 40 yds)
Gray: (15 - 40 yds)
INSTRUCTIONS: Gauge: 3 stitches and 3 rows = 1 sq. inch

1. Work with either straight needles, or circular needles. Worked bottom up.
8-12 yrs: Cast on 58 stitches
2. Work in ribbing (k1p1) for
8-12 yrs: 34 rows
3. Cast off with a long yarn end. Thread into a needle, weave through
the last row of stitches passing through every 4th or 5th stitch, pull to
gather and close the top of the hat, secure with a few stitches.
If worked in circular needles, weave yarn end into the finished work.
If worked with straight needles, sew the back seam of the hat, weave
through the finished work.
