MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn, worked 2 strands 
(Adult: 120 yds, 12-16 yrs: 100 yds; 5-12 yrs: 85 yds)
7 mm knitting needles (worked flat)
Yarn needle

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.  Copyright: Emi Harrington, please do not share in any form.      
     Works bottom up.

     Working with size 7 mm needles, and 2 strands of ww yarn:
  (White yarn )Cast on:  
  5-12 yrs: 36 stitches;  
  12-16 yrs: 40 stitches;  
  Adult: 44 stitches

2.   Work in ribbing: k2 p2 for 4 rows.

3.  (Gray yarn) (Not necessary to cut yarn after each sequence.)
 Work in stockinette stitch (k one row, p one row) for 2 rows.

4.  (White yarn) Work in garter stitch (k every row)  for 4 rows.

5.  Repeat step 3 and 4 for:
  5-12 yrs: 2 times (12 rows)
 12-16 yrs: 3 times (18 rows)
 Adult: 4 times (24 rows).

6.  Knit 2 stitches together across the row. (19, 20, 22)

7.  Knit 2 stitches together across the row, casting off each stitch 
     after it is worked. (10, 10, 11)

Leave a long yarn end, thread it into a needle, sew the back seam 
of the hat.
