1. Copyright: Emi Harrington, please do not share in any form.
Working with 6mm needles, and 2 strands of ww yarn (cream color),
cast on 10 stitches.
(I used the long tail cast on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iocTxgfLqU&list=PL8JcOsK0nf1L4RVaar-hbVuTc1AVqrutu&index=5)
2. Work in stockinette stitch (k one
row, p one row) as follows:
Knit 2 stitches in the first stitch, knit across the row knitting 2
stitches in the last stitch.
(12 stitches)
3. Purl across the next row.
4. Repeat step 2 and 3 for 3 more
times. (18 stitches)
5. Knit 2 stitches in the first 2
stitches, knit across the row, knit 2
stitches in each of the last 2
stitches. (22 stitches)
6. Purl across the row.
7. Repeat step 5 and 6 for 3 more
times. (34 stitches)
8. Change to brown color yarn. Work
in garter stitch (knit every row). (I
used one strand of tan, and one
strand of a multicolor brown.
Fun yarn could also be used. )
Repeat step 5 and 6 for 2 more
6 do not purl, knit
across the row.
(42 stitches)
9. Work in garter
stitch (knit every
row) for 18 rows.
10. Knit the first 15
stitches, knit 2 stitches
together for 6 times, knit
15 stitches.
(32 stitches).
Cast off. Thread the yarn end into a needle, sew bottom corners of the back together to close and provide an opening for the handle.
11. Place the tea cozy over the tea
pot, and pin the front snout to
fit.
Remove from the tea pot,
seam closed
with the yarn end
and a yarn
needle, up to the point you
marked to fit properly over the
snout. (Note: not all of the cream
yarn will be connected.)
12. Place the tea cozy back onto the
pot, (see photo below), tuck the
top of the snout down into the
space where the spout meets the
pot, and pin to fit, then remove,
and sew a few stitches with same
color yarn to keep the shape
permanently. Sew buttons on each
side for eyes.
