MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn, WORKED 2 STRANDS
(Or bulky yarn worked 1 strand)
(ww yarn: New-3mths: 80 yds; 3-6 mths:100 yds ; 6-12 mths: 120 yds)
8 mm straight knitting needles, (worked flat)
Yarn needle

1.  Worked flat. Working with 2 strands of worsted weight yarn, and 
       8 mm knitting needles:
(Or 1 strand of bulky yarn.)
This pattern is available on Ravelry for all other sizes, 1 yr to 
adult, Pattern #2233K
Cast on:
Newborn - 6 mths: 28 stitches
6-12 mths: 32 stitches


2.  Work in ribbing (k 2, p2) for:
Newborn-3 mths: 18 rows, casting off each stitch after it is 
worked in the last row.

3-6 mths: 20 rows, casting off each stitch after it is workedin the 
last row.

6-12 mths: 22 rows, casting off each stitch after it is worked in 
the last row.

Leave a long yarn end, thread it into a yarn needle, weave 
through the last row of stitches,
passing through every 4th stitch, pull to gather and close the top 
of the hat, take several
stitches to secure, then sew the back seam of the hat.
