INSTRUCTIONS:

My main focus with designing is to produce a pattern that requires the least amount of instructions, for ease of construction.You can find ALL my patterns on Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/designers/emi-harrington  Including over 500 FREE patterns.

 

Worked flat, top down.

1.  Newborn - 3 months: cast on 16 stitches

    3-6 months: cast on 20 stitches

    6-12 months: cast on 24 stitches.

2.  Work in ribbing (k1p1) for the entire sock:

 2 rows in homespun.

   2 rows in a contrasting color.

   As many rows as needed to measure 4 inches.

   4 rows in contrasting color.

   Knit 2 stitches together across the row. (8, 10, 12)

   Knit 2 stitches together across the row, casting off each

stitch after it is worked.

   Fold the work in half and sew into a tube.

MATERIALS:

Worsted weight yarn

5.5 mm crochet hook Yarn needle

 

INSTRUCTIONS: 3 sc long by 3 rows high = 1 sq. Inch

MAKE THE SOLE:

Newborn - 3 months: Chain 5

3 - 6 months: Chain 6                  


6 - 12 months: chain 7,


Single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook, and each stitch of the chain.

*Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch across the row. Repeat from * for:

Newborn - 3 months: 12 rows, or until the sole is 3.75 inches long. 3 - 6 months: 14 rows, or until the sole is 4 inches long.

6 - 12 months: 16 rows, or until the sole is 4.50 inches long.

Chain 2, double crochet in each stitch around the rectangle, photo 2. slip stitch to join and fasten off.

 

MAKE THE UPPER:

Photo 2. Attach yarn in the center of one of the sides, chain 1, single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join in the top of the 1st single crochet, fasten off.

Photo 3. Attach another contrasting color yarn in the fasten off stitch, chain 1, single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join.

Photo 4. Attach contrasting color yarn in the fasten off stitch, *chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. Repeat from * for one more row.

Photo 5. Work the back: Chain 1 and turn, single crochet around, 

          to the stitch opposite the starting stitch of the row.

*Chain 1 and turn, single crochet across the row of reduced stitches. Repeat from * for 2 more rows, fasten off.

Photo 6. Attach contrasting color yarn in the center back.

Photo 7. Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch around the opening of the bootie, slip stitch to join, fasten off. 

Photo 8. Attach contrasting color yarn on either side, in the corner stitch of the beginning of the back section. 

Photo 9. Chain 1, single crochet all around the back section, to the opposite corner, fasten off.

Photo 10. Attach contrasting color yarn in the corner stitch of the back section.

Photo 11. Single crochet in the next stitch, half-double crochet in each stitch around the back section, single crochet in



the last stitch, slip stitch into the corner stitch, fasten off.

 



Make the tongue:

 

Newborn to 3 mths: Chain 4

3 - 6 mths: Chain 5

6 - 12 mths: Chain 6

Photo 12: Single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook and each stitch of the chain.

*Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch across the row.

Repeat from * until the tongue is as long as the bootie from the toes to the top. Chain 1 and turn, single crochet all around the 4 sides of the tongue, fasten off.

Photo 13: Position the tongue inside the bootie.

Photo 14. Pin the tongue in the center front, and at the 

            2 corners of the back section.

Photo 15. With a yarn needle, and either color yarn, sew       the tongue to the front of the bootie. 

Photo 16. Tongue is sewn in.


Photo 17. Pass laces, or yarn through the front sides of the upper. Weave all yarn ends into the finished work.

1.  Cast on 26 stitches.

2.  Knit every row until the work will wrap around the hand. (6 rows 

      of each color in this sample.)  

Cast off with a long yarn end.

Thread the yarn end into a needle, fold the work in half, sew the 

 side seam leaving an opening for the thumb.

1.   USE ANY SIZE YARN AND ANY SIZE HOOK. 

     Change the size of the finished stars by using 

    larger or smaller size yarn and hooks.

Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.

(Hold the yarn end along the outside of the ring 

to enclose it into the stitches.)

1.  Chain 2, make 14 double crochet in the ring, slip stitch to 

     join in the top of the chain 2.

    (Pull the yarn end to close the hole in the center.)

2.  Chain 5, single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook, half-

     double crochet in the next stitch,double crochet in 

     the next stitch, triple crochet in the next 

    stitch, skip the next 2

dc, slip stitch in the next stitch. (First point of the star 

completed.)

3.  Repeat step 3 to make a total of 5 points, fasten off, weave 

     yarn ends into the  finished work.

 

TO MAKE A MOBILE, TIE A group of strands OF YARN APPROX. 36 INCHES LONG ALL TOGETHER WITH A KNOT (the knot can be used for hanging the mobile), then wrap each yarn around an embroidery hoop, and tie stars at random lengths.

Or for a neater knot: cut 3 or 4 strands of yarn 60 inches long, fold in half, and tie an overhand knot at the folded end (for hanging), then wrap the yarn ends around an embroidery hook.  (A tree branch could be used for a rustic look.)

6.5 mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

Stuffing: cotton balls, fiberfil, paper towels, or facial tissues

Optional: beads

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.


2.  Chain 2, make 7 double crochet in the ring. (8)


3.  Chain 2, *2 double crochet in the next stitch, 

     dc in the next stitch,

 repeat from * around, slip stitch to join. (12)


4. Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in the same stitch, 

  *triple crochet in the next stitch (yarn around the hook

2 times), single crochet in the next stitch, repeat from * 

around, slip stitch to join. (12)


5.  Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch around, slip 

     stitch to join. (12)


6.   Chain 2 and turn, double crochet around,

7.  Stuff the cavity, thread the yarn end into a needle,
