MATERIALS:

Worsted weight yarn, (Bernat Premium)

6.5 mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

1.  Newborn - 3 months: (Works top down.)

Chain 8, single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook and        each stitch of the chain.

2.  Working in the back side of the stitch only, 

     single crochet in each stitch across the row.

3.  Repeat step 2 until the rectangle measures 

    approx. 18  inches long. Then  bring the 2 ends      together and slip stitch to join and form a 

    tube.

4. 
 Working along one side of the circle (tube), 

     make the skirt: 

   chain 1, single 

   crochet  

    in each stitch around 

    the opening, slip stitch to join

in the first sc. (One row = 1 

stitch).

5. Chain 2, make 2 double crochet in the same stitch, 

    make 3  double  crochet in each stitch around, 

    slip stitch to  join in the top of the chain 2.

 

6. Chain 2 and turn, make 2 double crochet in the 

    same stitch. *Skip the next 2 stitches, 3 double 

   crochet in  the next stitch (shell formed),

repeat from * around, slip stitch to join in the top of the

chain 2.

 

 

7. Chain 1 and turn, slip stitch up to the center stitch of the 

    next shell, chain 2, 2 dc in the same stitch.  In 

    the center of  every shell make 3 dc, slip  

    stitch to join in the top of the  chain 2.

    

8.  Repeat step 7 until the dress is the length desired,  

      approx. 11 inches.

 

9.  Work loops around the hem:  *chain 3, skip the next stitch 

     single crochet in the next stitch, repeat from* 

    around, slip  stitch to join in the base 

    of the  first chain 3.

 

10.  Slip stitch into the next loop, *chain 3, 

      single crochet in  the next loop, repeat from * 

    around,  slip stitch to join in the base of the 

       first chain 3,  fasten off.

 

11.  Repeat step 10 for one more row.

 

STRAPS: (make 2)

Work a foundation chain that is approx. 7 inches long.

Single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook, and each 

stitch of the chain. *Chain 1 and turn, sc in each stitch 

across the row. 

Repeat from * to work a total of 5 rows of single crochet.

Work 2 rows of loops: *chain 3, skip the next stitch, single 

crochet in the next stitch, repeat

from* across the row.

Sew straps on the front, leaving 4 stitches between the 

straps.

In the back sew the straps directly beside each other in the  

center, and this will keep them from slipping off  the 

shoulders.
