MATERIALS:
Bernat Blanket Yarn, approx. 300 yds total for both
9 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle

SCARF:
1. Chain 70 to 100 stitches, depending on desired length of scarf.
2. Single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook, *double crochet in the next stitch, single crochet in the next stitch, repeat from* across the row. (Change colors every row or work in a solid color for a lovely textured garment.)
3. If you ended with a double crochet: chain 1 and turn, single crochet in the same stitch, *double crochet in the next stitch, single crochet in the next stitch, repeat from * across the row.
If you ended with a single crochet: chain 2 and turn, *single crochet in the next stitch,
double crochetin the next stitch, repeat from * across the row.
4. Repeat step 3 for as many rows as desired.
HAT:
5:12 YRS: CHAIN 30;
12-16 YRS: CHAIN 34;
ADULT: CHAIN 36
Slip stitch to join.
Chain 1, single crochet in the same stitch *double crochet in the next stitch, single crochet in the next stitch, repeat from * around, slip stitch to join in the first sc. (Change colors each row, or continue in the same color.)
Follow step 3 above, but slip stitch to join after every row.
Work as many rows as required:
5-12 yrs: 7 rows;
12-16 yrs: 8 rows;
Adult: 9 rows.
Fasten off with a long yarn end, weave it through the last row of stitches, pull to gather up and close the top of the hat, tie a tight knot, weave yarn ends into the finished work.
