MATERIALS:
     20 yards of tan worsted weight yarn for horn
     100 yards of multicolor yarns (pink, blue, purple)
OR 2 strands of worsted weight yarn
9 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle


INSTRUCTIONS 5 - 12 yrs:

1.  Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.

2.  Chain 2, make 11 double crochet in the ring, slip stitch to join.

3.  Chain 2 and turn, working in the back side of the stitch only for the remainder of the pattern,
   make 2 double crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. 
   (22)

4.  Chain 2 and turn, double crochet around, making 2 double 
    crochet in every 2nd stitch around, slip
stitch to join. (33)

5.  *Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch around, slip 
    stitch to join. (33)
   Repeat from * for 1 more row.

6. *Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the next 23 stitches, turn,
      repeat from * for 1 more row.  Fasten off.

7.  Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.

8.  Chain 2, make 11 double crochet in the ring, slip stitch to join.

9.  Chain 2 and turn, working in the back side of the stitch only for the remainder of the pattern,
make 2 double crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. (22)

Chain 2 and turn, 2 double crochet in the next stitch, *double crochet in the next stitch, 2 double crochet in the next 2 stitches, repeat from * around, slip stitch to join.  (36)


10. *Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch around, slip       
    stitch to join. (36)
    Repeat from * for 1 more row.

11. *Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the next 25 stitches, turn,
    repeat from * for 2 more rows.  Fasten off.

12.  Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.

13.  Chain 2, make 11 double crochet in the ring, slip stitch to join.

14.  Chain 2 and turn, working in the back side of the stitch only for the remainder of the pattern,
 make 2 double crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. (22)

15.  Chain 2 and turn, make 2 double crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. (44)

16.  *Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. (44)
Repeat from * for 1 more row.

17. *Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the next 30 stitches, turn,
   repeat from * for 2 more rows.  Fasten off.

TIES:  Fold a 2 yard length of Blanket yarn in half, pull the fold through one bottom corner, then chain
 until all the yarn is used up, working the chain with both strands.


MAKE THE HORN:
Working with 2 strands of worsted weight yarn:
5 - 12 yrs: chain 14
Teen - adult: chain 16,
slip stitch to join and form a ring, being careful not to twist the chain.

Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join.
Working in a spiral, single crochet around and around, skipping every 8th stitch until the horn has approx. a  1 inch opening, then skip every 2nd stitch until the tip is closed, fasten off.

MAKE THE FRINGE:
Wrap various colors of yarn around a 4 inch cardboard.  
Tie into a bundle, then cut open the loops.  
Attach the bundles to the top of the hat using the yarn that was used to tie into bundles.
