1.   PATTERN AVAILABLE AS AN INSTANT DOWNLOAD PDF ON RAVELRY

          Worked flat, bottom up.

5-12 YRS: CAST ON 36 stitches

12-16 YRS: CAST ON: 40 stitches

ADULT: CAST ON 44 stitches

 

2.  Work in k1p1 across the row.

 

3.  Repeat step 2 until the work measures:

   5-12 yrs: 5 inches or 10 rows

   12-16 yrs: 6 inches or 12 rows

   Adult: 7 inches or 14 rows

 

4.  DECREASE FOR THE TOP OF

THE HAT.

*Knit 2 stitches together

across the row. (18, 20, 22)

 

Knit 2 stitches together across the row. (9, 10, 11)

 

Cast off with a long yarn end.  

Thread it into a needle, weave

through the last row of

stitches, pull to gather and close the top of the hat, then sew the back seam of the hat.

1  WORKED FLAT:

2 - 5 yrs: 19-20 inch circumference: Cast on 76 stitches

5-12 yrs: 20-22 inch circumference: Cast on 80 stitches

12-16 yrs: 22-23 inch circumference: Cast on 90 sttiches

Adult: 22-24 inch circumference: Cast on 98 stitches


 

1. Ribbing:

 *Knit 1, purl 1, repeat from * across the row.

 

2.  Repeat row 1 until the work is 1.5 inches. (Approx. 6 rows, or any number to

your liking.)

 

 

3.  Change to stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) until the work measures:

5-12 yrs: 7 inches;

12-16 years: 8 inches;

Adult: 9 inches

 

Cast off.

 

Fold the work in half and with a yarn needle and the same yarn, sew the

seam to form a tube. Fold the work flat so that the seam is in the center back,

and sew the back seam.

MATERIALS:

Chunky yarn or 2 strands of ww yarn

8 mm knitting needles

Yarn needle

Hot glue or white glue

2 glitter stems (pipe cleaners)

1 round ball or a pom pom

3 sequins or buttons optional

1 Pinecone

INSTRUCTIONS:

My focus in designing is to produce a pattern in the most simple manner, so please don't be disappointed at how easy my patterns are.

 

1.  HAT: Worked flat.

Cast on 18 stitches.

Knit every row until the work will wrap around a pinecone.

Cast off with a long yarn end, and thread it into a yarn

needle

Sew the cast on row and cast off row together to form a

tube.

 

2.  Photo 1:  Fold up to form a brim.

Place the hat over the pinecone and either hot glue or white glue around.

 

3.  Photo 2: Fold a glitter stem in half, and twist the ends approx. 1.5 inches from the

ends.

 

4. Photo 3: Gather the top of the hat, place the ends of the glitter stems around,

         and twist.

 

 

 

 5. Photo 4: Gather the top of the hat, place the ends of the glitter stems around, and

twist.

6. Photo 5: Wrap a glitter stem around the brim of the hat.

7. Photo 6: Glue sequins or buttons on the hat.
