MATERIALS;
Worsted weight yarn, worked 2 strands (Red Heart Super Saver)
6.5 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle

1. Work with 2 strands of worsted weight yarn, and a 6.5 mm crochet hook.
Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.
2. Chain 1, make 8 single crochet in the ring, slip stitch to join.
3. Chain 1 and turn, 2 single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. (18 if you also worked
into the chain 1)
4. Working in a spiral, single crochet round and round, making 2 single crochet in every 3rd stitch,
until the worked round is the size of the bottom of the basket you wish to make. The sample
shown was worked to fit over a Cool Whip plastic container.
5. Begin working the sides: Chain 1, work in a spiral, one single crochet in each stitch, until the sides
are as tall as you would like. Then work one round, skipping every 3rd stitch. When finished,
slip stitch into the next stitch.
6. Make the handle: chain 1 and turn, single crochet in 4 stitches, chain 1 and turn, single crochet
across the row of 4 stitches, repeat from * until the handle is as long as you like, then slip stitch it
onto the opposite side of the basket.
Fasten off.
7. EARS: Chain 5, single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook, and in each stitch of the chain.
*Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch across the row, repeat from * until the ear is as tall
as the basket. Turn, single crochet in the first stitch, double crochet in the next stitch, chain 2, slip
stitch in the next stitch, fasten off, and sew the ear to the basket, just in front of the handle.
Repeat on the opposite side.
8. Sew buttons on for eyes, and a pink button for the nose. Attach a ribbon bow if desired.
