INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Chain 24, single crochet in the 6th stitch from the hook,

*chain 3, skip the next 3 stitches, single crochet in the next stitch.

Repeat from * across the row.

2. Chain 3 and turn, single crochet in the next loop, *chain 3, single crochet in

the next loop. Repeat from * across the row.

3. Repeat row 2, until the scarf is as long as you would like it.

(In this design, 36 inches.)

4. MAKE THE SCALLOPS:

A. Chain 2 and turn, make 2 double crochet in the first loop,

Work 3 dc in each loop across the row.

B. Chain 1 and turn, in each loop across the row

make:

3 single crochet, chain 5, 3 single crochet.

(We shall call this a ‘shell’.)

Chain 6 and turn, *single crochet in the stitch

separating the next shell, chain 6.

Repeat from * across the row, ending with a

single crochet.

Repeat step B to make as many rows of scallops as you wish.

In this design there are 5 rows.

5. Make the scallops on the opposite end of the scarf:

Attach yarn in either corner stitch.

Repeat the sequence above to make 5 rows of scallops

MAKE THE PICOT EDGE ALONG THE SIDES.

Attach yarn at one corner stitch of the end of the scarf.

In every 2nd stitch along the side of the scarf,

make: Single crochet, chain 3, single crochet.

 Fasten off.

(You will be working up the side of the scarf, therefore, you will be working into the loops. Evenly space the picot stitch, skipping a stitch between each loop.)

Repeat on the other side of the scarf.

Weave all the yarn ends into the finished work.
