FREE crochet pattern, V point Halter top, make any size

2021 - PINK AND BLACK HALTER TOP, Make any size.  
Follow these instructions, beginning with the correct length foundation chain, and you can make any size Halter top, perfect summer crochet!

MATERIALS:
Red Heart Super Saver yarn, 6 mm crochet hook
or 100% cotton worsted yarn and a 5.5 mm hook

1.  ALL SIZES:  Begin with a foundation chain that
   reaches across the body, from shoulder to
   shoulder.
2.  Double crochet in the 4th stitch from the hook,
    *skip the next stitch, double crochet in the next
    stitch, repeat from* across the row.
3.  Chain 4 and turn, *double crochet in the next chain 1
    space, chain 1, repeat from * across the row.
4.  Repeat step 3.

5.  This design changed to pink yarn.
Mark the center stitch of the row.  Chain 2, double crochet in each chain 1 space and  in
each double crochet stitch up to the center stitch.  In the center stitch make 3 double
crochet, (3 double crochet cluster), double crochet in each remaining stitch of the row.
6.  Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch up to the center double crochet of the 3
double crochet cluster, make 3 double crochet in the center stitch, double crochet in each
remaining stitch of the row.
7.    Repeat step 6 until the halter is the correct size.  Each additional row adds width to the
halter top as well as adding length.

8,  MAKE THE TIES:
       Without fastening off, make the first  back tie:  Chain 2, working UP the side stitches,
       make 2 double crochet in the side of the first stitch, make 1 double crochet in the post of
that same stitch. (4 double crochet stitches to begin the tie.)
 *Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the 3 stitches across the row.  
Repeat from * for 2 more rows.  
Reduce to 2 stitches across the row, and work until the tie is long enough. Fasten off.
Attach yarn on the opposite side of the halter top, and repeat to make an identical tie as
on the other side.


TIE FOR AROUND THE NECK:
Chain 3, double crochet in the 3rd stitch from the 
hook*Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the next 
stitch.
Repeat from * until the strap is approx. 24 inches 
long. 
Fasten off.
Weave through the top row of stitches on the halter 
top.

Any size yarn and any size hook.
This design used: 4.5 mm hook, Red Heart Unforgettable yarn

INSTRUCTIONS:  See a how to video here:

MATERIALS: Worsted weight yarn ( Age 6 to Adult S: 1 skein Red Heart Super Saver,400 yds; L: 2 skeins Red Heart Super Saver; XL= 3 skeins Red Heart Super Saver (1100 yds) 9 mm crochet hook, (US M or N) Yarn needle

ARMHOLE ROW: Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch up to the next chain 2 space, double crochet in the chain 2 space, skip all the stitches up to the next chain 2 space (armhole), double crochet in the chain 2 space, and each stitch up to the next chain 2 space. (back) double crochet in the chain 2 space, skip all the stitches up to the next chain 2 space (armhole) double crochet in the chain 2 space and each remaining stitch (front). 6. Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch across the row. 7. Repeat step 6. 8. Turn, *chain 5, skip the next stitch, single crochet in the next stitch, repeat from * across the row. 9. Turn, *chain 5, single crochet in the next loop, repeat from * across. 10. Repeat step 9 for 3 to 5 rows or more, depending on the length desired. Fasten off.



11. ALL SIZES: SLEEVES: Bring the 2 chain 1 spaces together at the underarm, attach yarn through both spaces attaching them together. (Note: for a larger sleeve opening, or more room across the chest, do not attach the two chain 2 spaces together, work separately in each, this will add more room in the sleeve and across the chest of the shrug as well.) *Chain 5, skip the next stitch, single crochet in the next stitch, repeat from * around, slip stitch to join in the base of the first chain 5. 12. ALL SIZES:
Turn, slip stitch into the next loop, single crochet in the same loop, *chain 5, single crochet in the next loop, repeat from * around, slip stitch to join in the first single crochet.
ABOVE COLOR: shaded pink 



13. ALL SIZES:
  Repeat step 12 for 7 rows or as many as desired for the length of the sleeves.
*Note: to make the sleeves taper, at the end of each row, single crochet into 2 loops, thereby reducing by one loop. Chain a cord of 5- to 80 stitches, fasten off. Fold in half, and pull the fold through a stitch on the front of the shrug, in any row, then pull the ends through the fold (larks head knot.). To close the shrug, bring one strand into the opposite side, and tie into a bow.

Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.
Chain 1, make 15 single crochet in the ring, slip stitch to join.
Chain 5, slip stitch into the 3rd stitch from the hook. (Equivalent to 1 dc, and 1 picot.)
In the same single crochet stitch make: *double crochet, chain 3, slip stitch into the top
of the double crochet,
      repeat from * one more time. (3 double crochet picot stitches formed in the same stitch.)

       In each stitch around make: *double crochet, chain 3, slip stitch into the top of the double
crochet, repeat from * 2 more times.
(Therefore each stitch will have 3 double crochet stitches, with a picot at the top of each
double crochet.)  At the end of the row, slip stitch to join in the 2nd stitch of the first chain.
       Fasten off.  (45 dc with a picot end.)

2ND LAYER FROM THE TOP:
      Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.
Chain 2, make 20 double crochet in the ring, slip stitch to join in the top of the chain 2.
Chain 5, slip stitch in the 3rd stitch from the hook. In the same double crochet stitch
make: *double crochet, chain 3, slip stitch into the top of the double crochet,
repeat from * one more time.

       In each stitch around make: *double crochet, chain 3, slip stitch into the top of the double
crochet, repeat from * 2 more times.
(Therefore each stitch will have 3 double crochet stitches, with a picot at the top of each
double crochet.)  At the end of the row, slip stitch to join in the 2nd stitch of the first chain.
(60 dc picot stitches, exact number not imp.)

3RD LAYER FROM THE TOP:
       Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.
Chain 2, make 15 double crochet in the ring, slip stitch to join.
Chain 2, make 2 double crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. (30)
Chain 5, slip stitch in the 3rd stitch from the hook. In the same double crochet stitch 
as the previous dc was worked, make:
*double crochet, chain 3, slip stitch into the top of the double crochet,
repeat from * one more time.

       In each stitch around make: *double crochet, chain 3, slip stitch into the top of the double
crochet, repeat from * 2 more times.
(Therefore each stitch will have 3 double crochet stitches, with a picot at the top of each
double crochet.)  At the end of the row, slip stitch to join in the 2nd stitch of the first chain.
(90 dc picot stitches, exact number not imp.)


BOTTOM LAYER:
       Chain 10, slip stitch to join and form a ring.
Chain 2, make 17 double crochet in the ring, slip stitch to join.
Chain 2, make 2 double crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. (34)

       Chain 6, slip stitch in the 3rd stitch from the hook. In the same double crochet stitch
make: *triple crochet, chain 3, slip stitch into the top of the triple crochet,
repeat from * one more time.

In each stitch around make 3 triple crochet, with a picot at the end.
(Therefore each stitch will have 3 triple crochet stitches, with a picot at the top of each
triple crochet.)  At the end of the row, slip stitch to join in the 3rd stitch of the first chain.
(102 triple crochet picot stitches, exact number not imp.)



Stack the 4 layers, sew a button or beads in the center, sewing through all 4 layers to
secure them permanently.

1.   Chain a cord that is approx. 40 inches long, without being stretched. Slip stitch to join
being careful not to twist the chain. (Should fit around the largest part of your hips, if not,
add more chain stitches.)
2.   Chain 4, skip the next 2 stitches, double crochet in the next stitch,
* chain 2, skip the next 2 stitches, double crochet in the next stitch, repeat from * around,
slip stitch to join in the 2nd stitch of the first chain 4.
3.   Slip stitch in the next chain 2 space.  Chain 3, double crochet in the same space.
In each chain 2 space around, make: double crochet, chain 1, double crochet (V stitch).
At the end of the row, slip stitch in the 2nd stitch of the first chain 3.
4.   Slip stitch into the next chain 1 space, chain 2, 2 double crochet in the same space.
In each chain 1 space around make 3 double crochet, (3 double crochet shell), slip
stitch to join in the top of the first chain 2.
5.   Slip stitch into the center stitch of the 3 double crochet shell, chain 3, double crochet in
the same stitch.  In the center of every 3 double crochet shell across the row, make a V
stitch.  Slip stitch to join in the 2nd chain of the chain 3.
6.  Repeat step 4 and 5 for 4 more times, (a total of 8 rows.)  Add more rows for high rise.

7.  Crotch extension.  Fold the work flat, with the last stitch worked on one side.
      Mark the stitch  opposite the
stitch still on the hook.  Chain 18,
slip stitch into the marked stitch on the
opposite side.  (Crotch extension formed,
see the video demo for a visual



8.   Slip stitch into the center of the next 3 dc shell (if 
       the last row worked was a V stitch row,
slip stitch into the center of the V stitch). Chain 3,         double crochet in the same stitch, make a V stitch in the center of each 3 dc shell.  When working across 
the chain extension for the crotch, skip 2 stitches, make a V stitch in the next stitch, repeat from * across 
the chain extension, slip stitch to join in the 2nd stitch of the first chain 3.

9.  Repeat alternate rows of 3 dc shells and V stitch, until the legs are as long as desired.

10. PICOT EDGE: Single crochet in the same stitch as the last slip stitch to join.
In the next space between either 3dc shells, or V stitch, make:
Double crochet, chain 1, double crochet, chain 1, double crochet, chain 3, slip stitch into
the top of the last dc worked, (picot formed), chain 1, double crochet, chain 1, double
crochet.
Single crochet in the next space between 3 dc shell or V stitch.  At the end of the row, slip
stitch into the first single crochet, and fasten off.

Attach yarn in the center of a 3dc shell or V stitch, in the center of the chain extension for
the crotch, and complete the opposite leg of the shorts.

FINISH UP:  Pass elastic, or ribbon, or a torn strip of fabric through the waistband.  
If desired, line the shorts with a pair of panties by sewing inside the shorts.
