1. Chain 20 (for a larger bag, chain more stitches, ending with an
even number).
2. Turn, single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook,* double
crochet in the next stitch, single crochet in the next
stitch, repeat from * across the row ending with a single crochet.
3. Chain 2 and turn, *single crochet in the next stitch, double crochet
in the next stitch, repeat from * across the row.
(The pebble stitch is the combination of making a single crochet
in the double crochet of the previous row, and a
double crochet stitch in the single crochet of the previous row.)
Repeat step 3 until the rectangle is as long as you would like. (The rectangle will be folded in half for an open bag. Or for a bag with a flap, make the first fold so that you have enough remaining to form the wrap over flap. Explained and demonstrated in the video.)
Fasten off. Either slip stitch the side seams to close up the bag, or sew with a darning needle and the same color yarns used.
Sew buttons on that will slide through the spaces between stitches. Attach a bow if desired by passing ribbon through a few stitches, and tie into a bow.
