MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn, (Red Heart Soft is recommended for baby wear as it is silky soft.
        Bernat Premium is also a soft worsted weight yarn.) (Newborn-3mths: 220 yds)
6 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle

Gauge 3 stitches and 3 rows = 1 sq. inch
This pattern is available for purchase with all sizes from newborn to 6 years:

Step 1:
NEWBORN - 3 MONTHS:

Chain 34,single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook, and in each stitch of the chain. (33 stitches).
Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in the next 3 stitches, make 3 single crochet in the next stitch,
*Single crochet in the next 7 stitches, 3 single crochet in the next stitch, repeat from * 2 more times.
Single crochet in each remaining stitches. (40 stitches). Go to step 2.

.Step 2:
Chain 2 and turn, *double crochet up to the corner stitch, make 3 double crochet in the center stitch of the corner stitch. Repeat from * 3 more times, double crochet in each remaining stitch.

Step 3:
Repeat step 2 for 2 more rows

Step 4:  
Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch up to the 1st corner stitch, including the center stitch.
*Skip all the stitches up to the next corner stitch, (armhole formed), double crochet in the center of the corner stitch, and in each stitch up to the next corner stitch. Repeat from * 1 more time, double crochet in each remaining stitches, SLIP STITCH TO JOIN.   (Optional: Fasten off and attach another color yarn.)

Step 5:  Skirt section:
*Chain 3, double crochet in the same stitch.  In every stitch around make: double crochet, chain 1, double crochet (“V” stitch formed). At the end of the row, slip stitch to join in the 2nd stitch of the chain 3.
Chain 1, and turn, slip stitch into the center of the next “V” stitch, chain 3, double crochet in the same stitch make a “V” stitch in every “V” stitch around, slip stitch to join.
Repeat from * for as many rows as desired for the length of the dress.
Example:  Newborn to 6 months: 13 rows

SHELL EDGE:
Attach white yarn in any “V” stitch, chain 2, make 4 double crochet in the same stitch, single crochet in the space between “V” stitch.
*Make 5 double crochet in the next “V” stitch, single crochet in the space between “V” stitch, repeat from * around, slip stitch to join in the top of the first chain 2.  Fasten off.  Weave all yarn ends into the finished work.
  
Armhole edging:
Attach yarn in underarm stitch, *chain 5, single crochet in the next stitch, repeat from * around, slip stitch to join in the base of the first chain 5.  Fasten off.

NECK EDGING:
Attach yarn in the top back corner, right side of the dress.  Chain 1, evenly crochet down the side, and back up the other side of the back opening.  Chain 5, single crochet in the same stitch, (buttonhole formed).  Working around the neck: *chain 3, single crochet in the next stitch, repeat from * around the neck, slip stitch to join in the starting single crochet and fasten off.  Sew a button opposite the buttonhole.

 PINK CIRCLE EMBELLISHMENTS:
Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.  Chain 2, carry the yarn along the outside of the ring, make 12 double crochet in the ring, slip stitch to join in the top of the 1st double crochet, fasten off.  Pull the yarn end to close the center hole.  With contrasting color yarn attach to the front of the dress.

Pass a ribbon or a chain cord around the last row of double crochet stitches at the bodice.

BLOCKING: Basically there are 2 ways of blocking.
1.  Steam blocking: arrange item on a flat surface, hold steam iron 
     above the surface, (not touching the surface), and
    steam. Allow the item to dry in the shape desired.

2.  Immerse in water, and squeeze water out, or spray with water.    
    Arrange item on a thick bath towel, shape
as desired, allow to dry undisturbed.

MATERIALS:
Caron tea Cakes, super bulky yarn…OR… 
2 strands of worsted weight yarn, (40 yds bulky yarn, 80 yds worsted weight)
9 mm knitting needles (US 13; UK 00)
Yarn needle

INSTRUCTIONS: Gauge: 2.5 stitches and 3 rows = 1 sq. inch

This pattern is available for all sizes from 3 months to adult in my Ravelry shop for $1.50:

1.  Newborn - 3 months: Cast on 28 stitches.

2.  Work in ribbing (k 2, p2) for 2 rows.

3.  Change to ivory color yarn, work in stockinette stitch (k one row, 
     p one row), for 4 rows.

4.  Change to main color, work in stockinette stitch for 6 rows.

5.  Knit 2 stitches together across the row. (14)

6.  Purl across the row.

7.  Knit 2 stitches together across the row, casting off each stitch 
     after it is worked. (7)
     Leave a long yarn end, thread into a needle, weave through the       last row of stitches, pull to gather up and close the
top of the hat, take several stitches to secure, then sew the back 
seam of the hat.

BOW TIE:  Cast on 4 stitches, knit every row (garter stitch) for 12 rows, cast off.  
Wrap yarn around the center to form a bow tie, attach to the band on the hat.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.  Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.

2.  Chain 1 , carry the yarn end along the outside of the ring, make 
     8 single crochet in the ring, slip stitch to join.  
 Pull the yarn end to close the hole.

3.  Chain 1 and turn, single crochet around, making 2 single crochet       in every 2nd stitch, slip stitch to join. (12)

4.  Work single crochet stitches in a spiral, making 2 single 
     crochet    in every 3rd stitch, , until the circle is as large as you
would like the bottom of the back pack to be.

5.  Begin the sides of the bag: Single crochet around, (no more   
     increase), until the bag is as tall as you would like it to
be.

6.  Make the flap: chain 1 and turn, single crochet into the next 6 
     stitches.
   *Chain 1 and turn, single crochet across the row of 6 stitches.  
     Repeat from * for 2 more rows.
Turn, slip stitch into the first stitch, single crochet in the next 3 
stitches, slip stitch into the last stitch.
Turn, slip stitch in the next stitch, chain 4, slip stitch into the last 
stitch, (buttonhole formed).
Sew a button on the front of the bag.

Attach beads on the ends of the cord if desired.
Attach a key ring into a couple of stitches on the back of the back 
pack.
