15.  Repeat step 13 for as many rows as you wish. To have the “ribs” stacked, work a front post in a front post. Working opposite (front post in a back post) will result in a basket-weave effect. Both are correct, use either method . Fasten off, and weave all yarn ends into the finished work.

1 To make smaller ornaments,
use 1 strand of ww yarn, and 5 mm needles.

Body and hat are the same:
Cast on 20 stitches,
knit every row for 22 rows.
Cast off. (I used them in  opposite directions.)
Fold in half, and sew into tubes.
Gather one at the bottom for the body then stuff.
Note:
For a firm standing ornament, first place pebbles or a sandwich
bag with rice in it before stuffing.
Or insert a small circle of cardboard.

2.  Cut a 1.5 inch square of pink fabric.  (If you don’t have pink fabric, tint some white fabric with face blush.)  Either sew or glue the fabric square to the top of the body shape.
Prepare the hat: sew into a tube, gather at one end. (I wrapped the yarn end around several times near the end.)

3. Place the hat over the body, sew or hot glue in place.

4. Make the beard:
Wind yarn around 3 fingers, slide off, insert a piece of yarn into the center of the bundle,  tie together , cut open the
loops.
Make 2 smaller ones for the side hair, winding around 2 fingers. Glue or sew onto the face.

5.  Sew on beads for eyes, sew or glue a         pom pom or bead for the nose.

6.  Sew or glue a pom pom on the top of       the hat.
 Add embellishments if desired.
Optional: add a ribbon for hanging.
