MATERIALS

Worsted weight yarn, 
approx. 320 - 400 Yds

                
 9 mm crochet hook 
yarn needle



INSTRUCTIONS:
Gauge 2 sc long and 2 rows high = 1 sq inch

1. Newborn - 3 months: chain 40,


single crochet in the2nd stitch from the hook, and each stitch of the chain.


2. Chain 1 and turn, working in the back side of the stitch only, single crochet in each stitch across the row.

3. Repeat step 2 for Newborn: 38 rows. (Total of 40 rows.) 





4.  Fold the work in half, and slip stitch to join to form a tube, or fasten off and sew the seam.


5.  Approx. 6 inches from one end of the tube, weave yarn through a row of stitches, pull to gather, Take several stitches to secure, and weave into the finished work.


6.  Divide the bottom ruffle in half, and weave yarn through the center to gather, take a few stitches to secure, weave yarn ends into the finished work.


7. Chain a cord approx. 24 inches long, and pass through a row of stitches at the waist.




Bra top:

Chain 20, single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook, and each stitch of the chain. *Chain 1 and turn, working in the back side of the stitch only, single crochet across the row. Repeat from * for 2 more rows, pass hook through all 4 rows at the end of the rectangle, and single crochet to gather up the end of the row, chain 24 to 30, fasten off.
Attach yarn on the opposite end, pass through all 4 rows, single crochet, chain 24 to 30, fasten off.



FLOWER: 6.5 mm hook: Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring. *Chain 5, singl crochet in the ring, repeat from * to form a total of 6 loops in the ring, slip stitch to join in the bas of the 1st chain 5, fasten off.

INSTRUCTIONS:
See a video demo here:

1.  Chain 20, single crochet in the 2nd stitch
from the hook,and each stitch of the chain.

2.  *Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each
stitch across the row.  
Repeat from * for 2 more rows.
3.  Slip stitch into the first 4 stitches, chain 1,
single crochet across the row, leaving the
last 4 stitches not worked into.

4.  *Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch across the row, repeat from * for 2 more rows. Fasten off.

WORK THE CUFF:
Attach white yarn in the same fasten off stitch.  
Single crochet across the row, increasing evenly by 2 stitches across the row.
*Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch across the row, repeat from * for 2 more rows.

Fold the work in half, and slip stitch the white section to close the cuff into a circle.  Fasten off.
Attach red yarn, single crochet down the front of the stocking, around the toe end, and across  the
bottom of the stocking. Fasten off. Weave yarn ends into the finished work.

If desired, embellish with a snowflake with a yarn needle and white yarn.

1.  Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.  Chain 2, make 12 double crochet
     in the ring, slip stitch to join in the top of the 1st double crochet.

2.  *Chain 12, single crochet in the next stitch, chain 6, single crochet in the next stitch, 
    repeat from * around, ending with chain 6, slip stitch to join in the base of the 
    first chain 12, fasten off.

Arrange snowflake on ironing board with straight pins, steam, allow to cool before removing pins.



You can stiffen the snowflakes with watered white glue, 
clear nail polish, glitter nail polish, 
or sugar stiffener.
(SUGAR STIFFENER: Bring to a boil equal amounts of sugar and water, remove from heat, cool, saturate snowflake in solution. Squeeze out excess liquid. Arrange as desired on waxed paper. Allow to dry undisturbed.)

    Newborn to 3 mths: Chain 48 (should measure 18 inches, if not

4 - 6 yrs: Chain 68 (should measure 23 inches, if not add more                            stitches)

CUSTOM SIZE:  Chain a cord that will wrap around the hips.

Slip stitch to join, being careful not to twist the chain.

2.  Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join in      the top of the 1st single crochet. (photo 1 below)

3.  Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch around, slip 
     stitch to join in the top of the 1st double crochet.
     (This forms a channel for passing elastic, a ribbon, 
      or a belt.)     (photo 2)

4.  Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch around, 
     slip stitch  to join.

5.  Repeat step 4 for as many rows as you would like for 
      the yoke: (photo 3)
   Examples:
   5 more rows for Newborn to 12 months,
   6 more rows for 1 - 3 years,
   7 more rows for 3 - 6 yrs,
   8 more rows for 6 - 8 yrs.
   8 more rows for 8 - 10 yrs,
   9 more rows for 10 - 12 yrs,
   10 more rows for 12 - 14 yrs,
   11 more rows for 14 - 16 yrs,
   15 more rows for adult sizes (approx. 6 inch yoke)





6.  MAKE THE GRID:  (photo 4, 5, and 6)
   (The grid is the underneath of the skirt, and the spaces will be 
    used to construct ruffled rows on.)
    Chain 3, *skip the next stitch, double crochet in the next stitch, 
    chain 1, repeat from * around, slip stitch to join in
    the 2nd stitch of the chain 3.

Chain 3 and turn, *double crochet in the next double crochet, 
chain 1, repeat from * around, slip stitch to join in  
the 2nd stitch of the chain 3.

Repeat step 6 for as many rows needed for the length of the 
skirt, allowing 2 rows of grid for each row of ruffles.  
Fasten off.
Examples: 6 rows of grid for Newborn to 6 months; (will result in 
3 rows of ruffles)
         8 rows of grid for 6 - 12 months; (will result in 4 rows of 
                                                                     ruffles)
         10 rows of grid for 1 - 3 yrs; (will result in 5 rows of ruffles)
         12 rows of grid for 3 - 5 yrs; (will result in 6 rows of ruffles)
         14 rows of grid for 5 - 8 yrs; (will result in 7 rows of ruffles)
         16 rows of grid for 8 - 10 yrs; (will result in 8 rows of ruffles)
         18 rows of grid for 10 - 12 yrs; (will result in 9 rows of 
                               ruffles, add 2 more grid rows for each extra 
                               ruffle row.)
           As many rows as desired for all other larger sizes.
*NOTE: Each row of ruffles is approx. 1 inch in length.
         
        


7.  MAKE THE RUFFLES:

   Attach yarn in any space in the first row at the top of the grid. 
   (In the bottom row of single crochet stitches,
   otherwise there will be a row of holes in the finished skirt, see 
    photo 7)
   Chain 2, make 1 double crochet in the same space.  In each 
    remaining space of the grid, make 2 double crochet,                             slip stitch to join in the top of the first chain 2.

8.  Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in the same stitch.
   *In the center of the next 2 double crochet cluster make: double 
     crochet, chain 1, double crochet, chain 1, double
crochet.  Single crochet in the space between the 2 double 
crochet cluster.   Repeat from * around, slip stitch to
join and fasten off. (Photo 8 shows one shell completed.  Photo 9 
shows the grid underneath the ruffles.)


*Move down 2 rows on the grid, attach yarn, repeat step 7 and 8 to form the next row of ruffles.

Repeat from * for as many rows of ruffles as will fit on the grid.  Fasten off, weave all yarn ends into the finished work.

Pass a ribbon, or elastic through the middle row of double crochet stitches at the waist.
