1. Cast on 21 stitches (or any ODD number). (Worked flat.)
2. Knit the first stitch, *purl the next stitch, knit the next stitch,
repeat from * across the row.
3. Repeat step 2 until the work is the desired length for the size desired, or in the case
of this design, for 39 rows. See photo 1.
4. BUTTONHOLE ROW:
Work across the row up to the center stitch, cast on 2 stitches,
pass stitches on with your thumb, then continue in the stitch pattern across the row.
See photo 2.
5. Repeat step 2.
6. Knit across the row, casting off each stitch after it is worked.
Fold the rectangle as shown to form a flap, sew the 2 side seams (photo 3).
Sew a button on the front. See photo 4.
For a rigid purse, insert a folded plastic canvas rectangle inside
the purse. Photo 5.
