MATERIALS:

Worsted weight yarn, 120 - 135 yds

9 mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

INSTRUCTIONS: Gauge: 2 sc and 2 row high = 1 sq. inch

1. Working with 2 strands of ww yarn, and a 9 mm hook:

   5-12 yrs: chain 34

       12 - 16: chain 38

       Adult: chain 40

   Slip stitch to join and form a ring.

2.  Chain 2, double crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join.

3.  Chain 2, alternate front post and back post double crochet 

      across the row, slip stitch to join.

4.  Chain 2, double crochet in each stitch across the row.

5.  (Red yarn attached in this step.)  Chain 2, *single crochet in the 

     next stitch, double crochet in the next stitch, repeat from* 

     around, slip stitch to join in the top of the chain 2. (Red fastened 
     off after this row.)

6.  Chain 2, double crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join.

7.  Chain 2, alternate front post and back post double crochet     

     across the row, slip stitch to join.

Fasten off. Weave yarn ends into the finished work.
