MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn, worked 2 strands (yardage below in step 1)
6.5 mm crochet hook,
Yarn needle.

1.  Work with 2 strands of worsted weight yarn.
2 - 5 yrs: chain 8 (180 yards total required)
5 - 8 yrs: chain 10 (200 yards total required)
8 - 10 yrs: chain 12 (240 yards total required)
10 - 16 yrs: chain 14 (380 yards total required)
Adult S: chain 16 (300 yards total required)
Adult M: chain 18 (350 yards total required)
Adult L: chain 19 (400 yards total required)
Adult XL: chain 20 (450 yards total required)

2.  Single crochet in the 2nd stitch from the hook, and each stitch of the chain.
*Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch across the row.  
2 - 5 yrs: go to step 3
5 - 8 yrs: go to step 3
8 - 10 yrs: repeat from * for one more row
10 - 16 yrs: repeat from * for one more row
Adult S: repeat from * for one more row
Adult M: repeat from * for two more row
Adult L: repeat from * for two more row
Adult XL: repeat from * for two more rows

3.  Optional: attach a new color, chain 1, single crochet in each stitch around all 4 sides, except make 2 single crochet in
each of the 4 corners. Slip stitch to join.

4.  Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch around, making 2 single crochet in each corner stitch.  Slip stitch to
join.

5.  Optional: change colors.  Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch around, working only in the front loop of the stitch
for this row only, slip stitch to join.

6.  Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join.  For adult L to XL, repeat for one more row.

7.  Optional: change colors.  Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join.
    For adult X and XL, repeat for one more row.

8.  Fold the sole in half to find the half-way position, and place markers on each side of the sold.
Chain 1 and turn, single crochet up to the 1st marker, double crochet decrease around to the
next marker, single crochet in each remaining stitch, slip stitch to join.

9.  Optional: change colors.  Chain 1 and turn, single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. And fasten off.

10. (Optional attach another color.)  Chain 2, double crochet in each stitch up to the first stitch marker,
       Age 2 - 8, chain 3,
Age 8 - Adult S: chain 4,
Adult L to XL: chain 5,
double crochet in the stitch across the slipper at the marked stitch location,
double crochet in each remaining stitch, slip stitch to join.

10.  Chain 1 and turn,  single crochet in each stitch around, including the chain extension, slip stitch to join.

11.  Optional: change colors: Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch to join. Fasten off, or
work as many rows as desired for the height of the slippers. Weave all yarn ends into the finished work.
