INSTRUCTIONS:

My main focus with designing is to produce a pattern that requires the least amount of instructions, for ease of construction.

You can find ALL my patterns on Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/designers/emi-harrington  Including over 500 FREE  patterns.

1. FOOT SECTION:  Worked flat, heel to toe.

Foot size chart at end of pattern.

1. Work with 2 strands of ww yarn or 1 strand Bernat Softee Chunky yarn

           10 - 14 yrs: Cast on 20 stitches

2.  Work in stockinette stitch (k 1 row, p 1 row) for: 10 - 14 yrs: 20 rows

3.  Toe end: Work in garter stitch (k every row) for:

10 - 14 yrs: 3 rows, then knit 2 stitches together across the row, casting off each stitch

after it is worked. Leave a long yarn end.

Thread the yarn end into a yarn needle, weave through the last row of stitches, pull to gather the toe end of the slipper, then sew across the top of the foot (1/2 the distance across).

Then sew the heel end closed. (Slippers can be used as short slippers.)

1. LEG SECTION: (worked top down)

(Leg section can be worked on straight or circular needles.)

10 - 14 yrs:  Cast on 18 stitches

2.  Cream yarn: work in ribbing (k1p1) for 2rows.

3.  Red Yarn: work in ribbing (k1p1) for 2 rows.

4.  Cream yarn: work in ribbing (k1p1) for 6 rows.

5.  Gray yarn: Work in ribbing (k1p1) for any number of rows or as below:

10- 14 yrs: 18 rows, cast off. Leaving approx. a 14 inch long yarn end, thread it into a needle.

If worked with straight needles: fold the work in half, and sew

the back seam.

Sew onto the opening of the foot section.

(NOTE: sewing through the back side of the stitch (back loop)

will help to camouflage stitches.)

Weave yarn ends into the finished work.

(Or watch this video on how to sew the mattress stitch, even

though it is a crochet demo, the principle

also applies to knitting for an invisible seam:
