FREE crochet pattern, SPIKE STITCH BABY CRIB BLANKET

2486- SPIKE STITCH BABY BLANKET
Colorful baby blanket, make a regular size baby blanket, or a larger blanket suitable for the crib.

Worsted weight yarn worked 1 strand or 2 strands dk yarn
6.5 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle

1.  This design started with wine color yarn. Worked sideways.
   Working with a 6.5 mm crochet hook,
   and 1 strand of ww yarn,   or   2 strands of dk yarn,

    BLANKET SHOWN IN PHOTO: (36 x 48 INCHES)  Chain 145
  FOR A CRIB BLANKET:  chain  217 
  (Average crib blanket measures 36 by 54 inches.)

Double crochet in the 4th stitch from the hook, and in the next  stitch,*chain 1, skip the next stitch, double crochet in the next 3 stitches, repeat from * across the row.

2.  Chain 2 and turn, (takes the place of the first dc), double crochet in the next 2 stitches, *chain 1, skip the next chain 1 space, double crochet in each of the next 3 double crochet, repeat from * across the row.

3.  Change to a contrasting color (this sample used peach color yarn) attach yarn in the top of the dc, chain 3 (takes the place of the first dk and ch 1 space) skip the next stitch, double crochet in the next stitch, double crochet in the chain 1 space,BUT work into the chain  1 space 2 rows down,  (long double crochetstitch formed),  double crochet in the next double crochet, * chain 1, skip the next double crochet, double crochet in the next double crochet stitch, long double crochet in the next chain 1 space 2rows down, double crochet in the next stitch,
repeat from * across the row, (end the row with a dc in the turning chain).

4.  Chain 3 and turn, skip the chain 1 space, double crochet in the  next 3 double crochet,
*chain 1, skip the next chain 1 space, double crochet in the next 3 double crochet,  repeat from * across the row ending with a double crochet in the last stitch (the 2nd stitch of the turning chain 3).

5. Change color.
Chain 2 and turn, long double crochet in the next stitch, double crochet in the next stitch.
*chain 1, skip the next stitch,double crochet in the next stitch, long double crochet in the next stitch, double crochet in the next stitch, repeat from * across the row ending with 3 double
crochet (work  the 3rd dc in the 2nd stitch of the turning chain).

6.  Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in the next 2 stitches, *chain 1, skip the next chain 1 space, double  crochet in the next 3 stitches, repeat from * across the row.

7.  Change color.  Chain 3 and turn, skip the next stitch, double crochet in the next stitch, long double
crochet in the next chain 1 space, double crochet in the next stitch, *chain 1, skip the next stitch, double
crochet in the next stitch, long double crochet in the next stitch, double crochet in the next stitch, repeat from* across the row.

8. Chain 3 and turn, skip the next chain 1 space, double crochet in the next 3 stitches, *chain 1, skip the next chain 1 space, double crochet in the next 3 stitches, repeat from* across the row., ending with a double crochet in the 2nd stitch of the chain 3.

9.  Repeat steps 5, 6, 7 and 8 until the blanket is the desired size.  Fasten off.

Block the finished garment by lightly spraying with water, place flat on a towel, arrange into shape, pat down lightly to flatten the stitches, allow to dry undisturbed.

This blanket worked in sequences of 4 rows in pink, 2 rows in white

1.  Chain 5, slip stitch to join and form a ring.

2.  Chain 2, make 2 double crochet in the ring, chain 1, 3 double 
    crochet in the ring, repeat from * 2 more
times , chain 1, slip stitch to join in the top of the first chain 2.

3.  Turn, slip stitch into the chain 1 space, chain 2, make 2 double 
     crochet in the same space, chain 1,
make 3 more double crochet in the same space.
*Chain 1, In the next chain 1 space, make 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc,
 repeat from * 2 more times, slip stitch to join in the top of the 
chain 2.

4.   Turn, slip stitch into the next chain 1 space, chain 2, make 2 
      more dc in that same space,
 chain 1,  in the next chain 1 space (corner)  make: 3 dc, ch 1, 3  
 dc;  
*chain 1, in the next chain 1 space, make 3 dc,
 chain 1, in the next chain 1 space (corner), make 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc;
  repeat from * around, ending with a chain 1, slip stitch to join in        the top of the first chain 2.

5.  Turn, slip stitch into the next chain 1 space, chain 2, make 2 
     more dc in the same space;
 chain 1, work around, making a corner cluster in every corner (3 
dc, ch 1, 3 dc),
and 3 dc in every chain 1 space between corners, separating 
each 3 dc cluster with a chain 1.
Repeat this step for as many rows as desired. Fasten off, weave 
yarn ends into the finished work.

FREE CROCHET PATTERN, Fishnet Summer Shrug, #924

MATERIALS:

Worsted weight yarn (1 skein of 198 grams will make any size.) 
9 mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

INSTRUCTIONS: Gauge: 2 stitches = 1 sq inch



Small: chain 34
Medium: chain 38
Large: chain 42

1. Double crochet in the 4th stitch from the hook and each stitch of the chain.
2. Chain 2 and turn, double crochet in each stitch across the row, working in the back side of the stitch only.
3. Repeat step 2 until the rectangle is as long as needed.
Examples: Small: 28 rows; Medium: 30 rows, Large: 38 rows
 
Fasten off, weave yarn ends into the finished work.

To form into sleeves, fold the rectangle in half,

and connect by sewing, or attaching a chain cord to bring the corners together, as shown in the photo.

2.  Chain 1 and turn, working in the back side of the stitch only, single crochet in each stitch
across the row.
3.  Repeat step 2 until the work measures approx. 28 inches.  Fold in half, bringing the
foundation row to the last row worked, and slip stitch to join into a tube.
    Weave yarn ends into the finished work.

1.  Cast on 4 stitches, knit every row until the work measures 
     approx. 11 inches, cast off.
2. Thread the yarn end into a needle, weave through
     one long side, pull to gather, sew the 2 ends
   together.  Sew a button or beads in the center.
